Released on 16 September 2026, the QS Masters in Management ranking 2027 assesses 256 programmes worldwide. Here are the best Masters in Management according to QS, how recruiters read the ranking and how to use it when building your career plan.

The top of the table has barely moved. The first four places are unchanged from 2026: HEC Paris, London Business School, ESSEC and the CEMS programme. ESCP climbs one spot to share fifth place with INSEAD, which means five of the top six programmes worldwide are attributed to France by QS.
The only change in the make-up of the top 10 comes from Esade, which gains two places to enter at number ten, taking the spot held by Bocconi last year. IE Business School slips one place, while Kellogg, the only US school in the leading group, and Imperial hold steady. Across the whole ranking, 154 of the 256 programmes assessed are European.

| 24= | PSB | 201+ | 201+ |
All five leading French schools sit within the world top 20. Behind the HEC Paris, ESSEC and ESCP trio, emlyon moves up one place to 15th and EDHEC holds on to 18th. This leading group is also the most stable from one edition to the next, a signal that matters to recruiters who concentrate their campus campaigns there.
Further down the top 100, the gaps narrow. SKEMA (34th), Audencia (37th) and GEM (41st) form a tight pack, followed by KEDGE BS (54th) and NEOMA (56th), which posts the biggest rise among French schools with ten places gained. IÉSEG (65th) and TBS Education (78th) complete the list of French schools in the top 100. Lower down, where QS only publishes bands, several schools move to a different group, while IPAG and MBS enter the ranking for the first time.
Why the QS ranking matters for your career
What sets the QS ranking apart is its methodology. The employability indicator alone accounts for 35% of the score: it combines the programme’s reputation among employers, measured through a global survey, with graduate employment rates six months after graduation. Alumni outcomes (15%) add a measure of how many former students reach senior leadership positions. In other words, half of the score directly reflects how the job market perceives and hires graduates.
| Criterion | Weight | Link to careers |
| Employability | 35% | Reputation among recruiters and employment at six months |
| Value for money | 20% | Programme cost relative to salary prospects |
| Thought leadership | 20% | Academic reputation and research |
| Alumni outcomes | 15% | Alumni in senior leadership roles |
| Diversity | 10% | Gender balance and international mix of cohorts |
This is also why a school’s brand remains a first-level filter. When a recruiter spends a few seconds on a CV, the name of the school is among the first things they read, before the detail of your experience. Our analysis of what recruiters really look for on your CV shows just how fast that first read is.
Finance and consulting: how recruiters read a MiM ranking
In investment banking, private equity and strategy consulting alike, campus recruiting tends to focus on a limited number of schools, often called target schools. An international ranking does not create that status, which is built on years of relationships between schools and employers, but it gradually reinforces or weakens it. The stability of the French top five in QS 2027 confirms positions that are already firmly established in selection processes.
For candidates from schools ranked lower down, the ranking does not close any doors. It shifts the effort towards other levers: a strong run of internships, networking and technical preparation. Our guides on landing an M&A internship and joining an MBB firm show this clearly, and some career paths make it very concrete, such as that of an Audencia graduate who became an M&A analyst at Moelis in London.
There is also a slower effect: when a school steadily gains places, its visibility among international recruiters grows, particularly in London offices where English-language rankings are closely followed. NEOMA’s rise and ESCP’s entry into the top five should be read from this medium-term perspective, not as an immediate change in hiring practices.

MiM, specialised MSc or Master’s in Finance: which ranking should you follow?
The QS Masters in Management ranking assesses generalist programmes, which in France usually correspond to the Programme Grande École. If your career plan is already clear, other QS rankings may be more relevant: the 2027 Masters in Finance ranking is also led by HEC Paris, while in Business Analytics the X-HEC master’s ranks second in the world.
Choosing between a generalist track and early specialisation is one of the most common questions among finance candidates, and we cover it in detail in our article on early specialisation versus a generalist path. Specialised MSc programmes also play a growing role at some schools, as SKEMA’s MSc programmes illustrate. If you are considering a first step in audit, it is also worth asking whether you should start your career in a Big Four firm before moving into finance.
How to talk about your school and its ranking in an interview
In an interview, your school’s ranking is never an argument in itself. Recruiters already know it and expect something else: a coherent account of your path, your choice of courses, student societies and internships, and how they lead to the role you are applying for. Highlighting what makes your programme distinctive, whether a double degree, a specialisation or international experience, is more convincing than quoting a rank.
This is the FIT part of the process, often underestimated compared with technical questions. We have written a full article on the importance of FIT in interviews and how to prepare it. Trainy’s free video modules, led by industry professionals, also let you practise both the technical and the behavioural sides.

Frequently asked questions
What is the best Master in Management in the world according to QS in 2027?
HEC Paris’s Master in Management ranks first in the QS 2027 ranking, ahead of London Business School and ESSEC. HEC Paris thus keeps the top spot it already held in 2025 and 2026.
How many French schools are in the top 100 of the QS MiM ranking 2027?
The world top 100 includes twelve French business schools, from HEC Paris (1st) to TBS Education (78th). Across the whole ranking, 29 French business schools recruiting after a classe préparatoire or the baccalauréat are ranked, not counting INSEAD, the CEMS programme and Paris Dauphine-PSL.
Does the QS ranking influence recruitment in finance?
Indirectly. Banks and funds recruit first from schools they have long-standing relationships with, but 35% of the QS score is based on employer reputation and graduate employment. The ranking therefore partly reflects how the market perceives a school and, over time, contributes to its visibility.
Which French school improved the most in the QS MiM ranking 2027?
With ten places gained, from 66th to 56th, NEOMA records the strongest progression among French schools. IÉSEG climbs two places, while ESCP and emlyon each gain one. IPAG and MBS enter the ranking for the first time.
Should you choose your school based on the QS ranking alone?
No. The QS ranking assesses a programme on broad criteria and says nothing about how well a school fits a specific career plan. Relationships with employers in your target sector, the specialisations on offer and the alumni network matter at least as much for your career.
Key takeaways
The 2027 edition of the QS Masters in Management ranking shows a stable top tier, with HEC Paris still first, ESSEC third and ESCP now fifth equal. Because half of its score is based on employability and graduate careers, the ranking partly reflects how recruiters perceive schools. For a finance or consulting candidate, it is one reputation indicator among others, and no substitute for strong internships or thorough interview preparation.
